Record of Ragnarok Season 3 is officially in production, revealing a teaser visual and trailer, as well as a new studio joining with a main staff change. The first season of the anime was released in 2021, while Season 2 was released over two parts in 2023. Both are currently streaming exclusively on Netflix, which is also where Season 3 is headed.
Record of Ragnarok Season 3 Gets New Main Staff
Yumeta Company, which assisted with Season 1 and was co-credited for animation production for Season 2, is now joined by MARU Animation. Meanwhile Graphinica, the studio that had worked on both of the first two seasons, is not credited for the sequel. The new main staff for Record of Ragnarok Season 3 includes:
- Director: Koichi Hatsumi (taking over from Masao Okubo)
- Main Writer: Yasuyuki Muto (taking over from Kazuyuki Fudeyasu and Yuta Yamada)
- Character Design: Yoko Tanabe, Hisashi Kawashima (taking over from Masaki Sato)
- Music: Yasuharu Takanashi (continuing from first two seasons)
- Animation Production: Yumeta Company x MARU Animation
First Record of Ragnarok Season 3 Teaser Visual & Trailer Tease Qin Shi Huang VS Hades
Stylized as Record of Ragnarok III, the first teaser visual and trailer both tease the next fight between Qin Shi Huang and Hades. The legendary Chinese emperor known as “The King Where It All Began” will face the “King of the Netherworld,” and you can see the two in the visual and trailer below.

Background
The Record of Ragnarok manga has been serialized in Monthly Comic Zenon (published by Coamix) since November 2017. It is written by Shinya Umemura (story) and Takumi Fukui (story structure), while Azychika handles the illustration. The manga has sold over 18 million copies so far. You can read the synopsis below:
7 million years of human civilization is coming to an end…
Every thousand years, all the gods of the world gather in heaven to attend the Conference of Mankind Survival. The gods agree to end to mankind due to their foolish acts, but before the final verdict is made, Brunhild, the eldest of the 13 valkyrie sisters, makes an objection.
“To spice things up, why don’t you test the humans?”
She proposes that the all-powerful gods face off in one-on-one battles against the strongest champions from human history — during a final struggle known as “Ragnarok.” The first team to win 7 out of 13 battles will be declared the winner, but it seems almost impossible for humans to win against the gods.
Although the gods sneer at her declaration, Brunhild provokes them further:
“Are you chickening out?”
Her words hit the gods’ nerves, and, enraged, they accept her proposal. Now, Brunhild and her sisters must choose humanity’s 13 champions in a desperate battle for survival. Will humans surpass gods and prevent humanity’s ultimate end? The eschatological battles between heaven and earth finally begins!
