Sabres’ Josh Norris being evaluated for injury

It’s looking as though the Buffalo Sabres‘ top deadline acquisition may miss some time.

Head coach Lindy Ruff told reporters on Friday that centre Josh Norris was being evaluated by team medical staff for an undisclosed injury after missing practice.

Ruff said the injury was “something he’s been dealing with,” but did not specify further.

Over the past two seasons with the Ottawa Senators, Norris missed 106 games with various shoulder injuries. He’s had three shoulder surgeries spread over his college and NHL career, though it’s not clear if that’s what he’s dealing with currently.

Ruff also mentioned he’s preparing for the possibility that Norris does not play Saturday against the Vegas Golden Knights.

Norris, 25, was the Sabres’ marquee addition on the March 7 deadline, acquiring the one-time 35 goal scorer, along with Jacob Bernard-Docker, from the Ottawa Senators in exchange for Dylan Cozens.

In three games with the Sabres, Norris has a goal and an assist. Before being traded, he had 20 goals and 33 points in 50 games.
