A Couple of Cuckoos Season 2 Premieres This July with New Staff, Studio
Thanks to a new trailer, we have some more information on A Couple of Cuckoos season 2. The anime adaptation is officially set to continue this July as part of the Summer 2025 season, and we also know more about the staff and cast behind it.
The staff will be almost completely new this time. The studio is switching from Shinei Animation and Synergy SP to Okuru to Noboru. The new director is Masakazu Hishida (Ensemble Stars), who also oversees scripts under the pen name of Jou Aoba and works alongside new character designer Kyoko Chika. One of the returning staff members is music composer Rei Ishizuka.

In addition to the returning cast members, a new voice actor joins the roster in Hina Yomiya, who will voice Ai Mochizuki, pictured below.
A Couple of Cuckoos season 2 was first announced in July 2024.
The first season of the anime was made at Shinei Animation and Synergy SP, with Yoshiyuki Shirahata working as the director and Hiroaki Akagi working as the chief director. Yasuhiro Nakanishi handled series composition, Aya Takano handled character designs and Rei Ishizuka handled music.
The original manga—which is written and illustrated by Miki Yoshikawa—is published in English by Kodansha, which gave this description of the series:
A Couple of Cuckoos Plot
16-year-old super-studier Nagi Umino, second-year student at the Megurogawa Academy high school, was switched at birth. On his way to a dinner to meet his birth parents, he accidentally meets the brash, outspoken, Erika Amano, who is determined to make Nagi her fake boyfriend as she never wants to actually marry. But once Nagi makes it to dinner, he finds his parents have decided to resolve the hospital switch by conveniently having him marry the daughter his birth parents raised…who turns out to be none other than Erika herself!
