Angus Gunn: ‘No communication’ over new Norwich City deal

Norwich City goalkeeper Angus Gunn says there has been “no communication” from the club over a new contract offer.

The Scotland international’s current deal with the Canaries expires at the end of this season but renewal talks have not yet been held, according to Gunn.

“I’ve not heard anything from the club, which is a worry,” he told BBC Radio Norfolk, when asked whether he will be a Canaries player next season.

“I do get asked that question a lot but honestly I can’t answer it because there’s been no communication.”

Gunn, who has missed Norwich’s past two games with a hamstring injury and is unable to go away with the Scotland national team, says he “hopes” contract discussions will be held with the club over the next couple of weeks.

“I hope more than anything just for a bit of clarity really – I’ve got a family and I need to look to the future,” he added.

“For a professional player, the main thing is to have that clarity and know where you’re going to be.

“It would be nice to get that clarity one way or the other, so we will have to wait and see what happens.”

The 29-year-old, who is the son of Norwich goalkeeping legend Bryan Gunn, insists he is open to staying at Carrow Road.

Gunn signed for Norwich from Southampton in June 2021, having previously spent the 2017-18 season on loan with the Canaries from Manchester City, and has made 166 appearances over two spells with the club, keeping 44 clean sheets.

“If the opportunity comes and they come speak to me and say that I’m wanted then definitely it’s something I would like to hear and definitely have a conversation about,” he added.

“It’s where I was born, it’s where I grew up and obviously it’s the club I support. I’ve always said, it’s a dream come true to play at Carrow Road and get the opportunities I have done at this club.

“I owe a lot to them in my career and a lot of people that have been here at the club have been massive parts of why I am here today.”
