There’s No Freaking Way I’ll Be Your Lover! Unless… Yuri Anime Hypes Subbed Trailer
The upcoming yuri anime series, There’s No Freaking Way I’ll Be Your Lover! Unless… (a.k.a. Watashi ga Koibito ni Nareru Wake Naijan, Muri Muri! Muri Janakatta!? in Japanese) dropped two versions of the same trailer. One is subtitled, and the other is clean, and the subbed trailer just works in America and Canada. We also have word that Kana Ichinose (Fern in Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End) has been cast as Satsuki Koto, and Takako Tanaka (Roana in Interspecies Reviewers) has been cast as Kaho Koyanagi.

The series is scheduled to debut in July 2025.
It’s being made at Studio Mother, with Natsumi Uchinuma, known for being an episode director for series like Arifureta – From Commonplace to World’s Strongest and More Than a Married Couple, But Not Lovers, helming the project as director.
The franchise started out as a novel series by Teren Mikami and also has a manga adaptation. Both of those are being published by Seven Seas Entertainment, which gave this description for the plot:

Renako Amaori is leaving her awkward and lonely junior high school life behind, determined to become a normal girl with normal friends in high school. Glamorous, confident Mai Ouzuka is Renako’s total opposite: wealthy, outgoing, and a literal fashion model. Against the odds, the two girls form an immediate connection. Renako thinks she may have found the best friend of her dreams…until Mai’s romantic confession sends her into a tailspin. Renako wants to prove to Mai that being BFFs is better than being girlfriends, but Mai is dead set on convincing Renako that they’re destined to be lovers. Let the love games begin!
